THE DETAILED VERSION

Our Privacy Policy

What data do you collect when I search?
When you search through Pawzitive, we work with either Microsoft Bing or Yahoo to provide you with search results and ads. In order to do this, we automatically collect data required by search partners to prevent bot attacks and ad fraud - which includes your IP address and search terms.

Wherever you search from, and regardless of which of our partners you choose, the advertisements you see are not personalized, though you may see advertisements that are more relevant to your query based on factors such as your general location from your IP address. The information is used for site and advertising optimization, as well as fraud protection. For more information about how Microsoft and Yahoo collects and uses your data, visit Microsoft's privacy statement and Yahoo privacy policy.

Microsoft Bing does also offer personalized search results and ads. This service requires a cookie to be set on your browser which creates a personal profile. We will ask for your consent before enabling this and you can change your choice at any time in your cookie preferences. More information on cookies and how to take control of your preferences can be found in the "What about cookies?" section.
How does Pawzitive protect my privacy?
We only gather and use the information needed to provide you with the best possible search results—this includes your IP address, search terms, and session behavior data. Beyond that, you'll be asked to agree before any additional data is collected or shared, and you can withdraw your consent at any time. We do not obtain any extra information from third parties.

For example, we monitor how effective our social media ads are to ensure we run the right campaigns on the right platforms. We never share your search terms with those platforms; we only provide information on whether you're still searching with us. This is done solely with your permission, and you're free to withdraw that consent at any time.

We exclusively allow connections to our search engine via a secure SSL/HTTPS connection. This prevents anyone between you, Pawzitive, and our search partners from eavesdropping on your searches. We rely on Google and AWS—two of the most reputable SSL certificate authorities—to create and manage our SSL certificates.

Pawzitive's servers are located around the world in order to provide a fast response no matter where you are. When you perform a search on Pawzitive, your request will generally be routed to the server that is geographically nearest to you.

Why are you collecting personal data at all?
We collect your IP address and search terms so we can provide search results and advertisements from our partners. Along with our search partners, we use your IP address to protect our service against fraudulent activities or attempts to artificially boost certain search results. If we notice an unusually high volume of requests from the same IP address in a short time, we may display a CAPTCHA or temporarily block results for that address. Because your IP address is considered personal data, both we and our partners take care to safeguard it and have set schedules for deleting it. On Pawzitive, we anonymize your IP address within 7 days at most. For details on how our search partners handle and protect your data, please refer to their privacy statements below.

For more information, you can review the following: We also gather anonymous data to identify and resolve bugs and issues in Pawzitive products and services. This non-personal data may include log information collected by our servers or details about program crashes and exceptions.

What about cookies?
We are not stored any cookie.
Can anyone see my searches?
We collaborate with Microsoft Bing and Yahoo to provide search results. To ensure privacy and prevent unauthorized access, our search engine exclusively supports secure SSL/HTTPS connections.

Keep in mind that your browser may save your browsing history, including the pages you visit from search results or chat conversations (if using our chat feature). You can use your browser's settings to clear this history if needed.
Will any personal data ever be shared with 3rd parties?
When you perform a search, your IP address and search terms are automatically transmitted to our search partners, Microsoft Bing or Yahoo.

Pawzitive runs advertisements on social media and shares anonymous metadata with these platforms. Specifically, we inform them whether a user who clicked on our ad proceeded to download our extension and conduct a search. This data helps us optimize our marketing efforts. This applies only to users who are active on these platforms and have given prior consent. If you wish to withdraw your consent or learn more, please use the following links:
How does your privacy policy compare to other search engines?
We collect only the necessary data to deliver search results and advertisements from our search partners, Microsoft Bing and Yahoo.

Only a few search engines maintain their own web index, such as Google, Bing, Yandex, and Baidu. Most other general web search engines collaborate with these companies and share data in some capacity. We currently partner with Microsoft Bing and Yahoo and are fully transparent about the data we share with them.
Spreading the word
To support our mission of saving dogs' lives, we use external advertising platforms to reach new users. When a new desktop user installs the Pawzitive extension, a notification of the installation is sent to our advertising platform. To ensure privacy, this notification is not linked to our search service. This helps us identify which ads contribute to our mission so we can optimize our spending and discontinue ineffective campaigns. We regularly test new platforms and remove those that do not perform well. Currently, we are using or planning to test Google Ads, Facebook, Apple's App Store, Microsoft Bing, Twitch, TikTok, and Taboola.
Privacy policy updates
We may update this privacy policy periodically to ensure it remains current. Any changes will be posted on this webpage, and if there are significant updates, we will make an effort to notify you. The latest update to this privacy policy was on February 17, 2025.
